Wisdom At Work Luncheon, Friday, Sept. 24, 2010

Presenter: Nogie King

Topic: The Currency of Connection: Evolving Your Relationship with Money

The world spends a lot of time thinking about money. We earn it, save it, spend it, try to manage it, worry about it, hold our breath about it and eventually make up stories about what it all means.  Even though many of us are wholeheartedly engaged in wisdom practices, most of us still FEEL challenged by the practical and emotional demands of money.

Join us for this interactive presentation using a body-centered approach to explore the internal effects and external results of our own stories about money. Then experience a new way of BEING with money that allows you to graduate to a profoundly satisfying relationship with this ubiquitous stuff called money.

Nogie will introduce an evolutionary process that takes us back to the original purpose of money (to foster human relationships) and moves us forward to connect us to our deeper truth (the currency that really matters).

Come learn:

  • Why abundance is not the answer.
  • How to use money as a spiritual practice.
  • How our bodies are the roadmap.

Nogie King has been designing and delivering profound experiences for over 15 years. She is currently the Executive Director for Wisdom at Work and is writing her first book entitled The Currency of Connection: Evolving Your Relationship with Money.

She is the founder of Sympatico Productions, a coaching firm that provides real-world tangible results through a combination of somatic awareness, ancient wisdom, modern scientific breakthroughs and entrepreneurial thinking. Nogie was the former Program Coordinator at The Crossings and created the popular “What the Bleep” Conference there. She also founded Camp Camelot, a weekend summer camp experience for Not-So Grown-Ups.

"Getting Wisdom To Work" Quarterly Workshop Series - Nov., 2010

Presenter: Dan Morman

Workshop Topic: Change Your Perspective and Change Your Life

Date: Friday, Nov. 12, 2010

Time after time we learn that it is not the circumstances in our life that determine our success or happiness, but our perspective on these circumstances that makes all the difference!  We understand that we should take personal responsibility for our actions and our attitude, for destructive self-talk, to adopt empowering beliefs and stay positive. But how is this possible in real life? How could this be possible in the midst of the craziness at work?

Join us for a powerful experiential workshop to learn how to expose the hidden actions you take to sabotage your success and the limiting fears and unarticulated beliefs that drive them.  You’ll then learn a transformational process to let go, or radically reframe these beliefs, creating new perspectives and actually change old behaviors and of course change your life!

The power to adopt accurate and empowering perspectives that move us powerfully forward remains an illusive mystery to many.  Now is the time to invest in yourself and take control of your greatest gift. (you of course!) The world is waiting for you!

Our workshop leader, Dan Morman is an executive coach and consultant specializing in leadership development, achievement, meaning and inner fulfillment. He has led many successful efforts in Global Leadership, Personal Power, High Performance Teams, and Change Management for companies such as Cisco, IBM, Hitachi, Chevron-Texaco, and Microsoft. ?He lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and two sons.?  www.innovation-coaches.com

Integration of Doing and Being

I am so happy that Lauran, our August speaker, presented around the topic of balancing the doing/being (masculine/feminine) in our work/lives.  This is precisely the topic that WAW has been exploring since our inception and it is certainly front and center in my own life. It is also perfect timing as we humans move from the lazy days of summer into the hectic activity of the fall season.

This fall we have a lot of “Doing” going on with a full roster of luncheon presentations, a new fall workshop with Dan Morman on Nov. 12th on “Life, Leadership and Self-Deception” plus the plethora of holidays that begin in October and see us through the first of the year. Yet, it is the “Being”, the way we show up for all of the “Doing”, that seems to bring the richness and satisfaction to life.  It is the “how we relate to one another”, no matter what we are doing, that colors our accomplishments with purpose and fulfillment.

Often, I will find myself getting a bit stressed with all of the things that need to be done to keep an organization running, but it is my interaction with all of you at each program, each meeting, through emails and phone calls chocked full of exciting ideas, that brings me back to what matters. It warms my heart and makes me look forward to the next "doing". And sometimes, although I often forget it in the moment, it is the "Doing" that creates a structure for all of this "Being together" as a community.

I so appreciate the people that are the community of Wisdom at Work, for “Being” who you are – full of inspiration, curiosity and aliveness.  I also value you for all of the work that you are "Doing" in our world. Clearly it is making a difference and clearly wisdom is at work here.
